Explorers Out & About

Wallasey Explorers is a vibrate active unit based in the very centre of Wallasey.  The unit meets regularly at least once a week, taking part in a variety of activities and events.  Young people aged 14-17 are welcome to join.  Current members are or have been part of the Jamboree Contingent to South Korea, County Explorer Belt to Hungary, Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and Queen’s Scout expeditions to Scotland, the World Jamboree to the USA, Roverway 2018 to Holland and the European Jamboree to Poland.  For further information about the Unit and joining instructions please contact the Wallasey Explorer Commissioner.

Any young people taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme with local schools and who wish to complete the service of the Award with a Scouting section or group are very welcome.  However they must contact the Explorer Commissioner for Wallasey BEFORE starting any service, with any section or group, as there is a registration procedure in place and training must be undertaken.

Explorer Progressive Awards & Young Leader Training Logbooks

The Explorer Progressive Awards are called Platinum, Diamond and Queen’s Scout.  Below are links to the Log Books required for each award.  You will find that some elements are similar to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, which can be undertaken via Scouting or school.  It is necessary that Explorers complete these logs in full before they can be presented with the relevant Award.  Also included is an Explorer Witness Statement for any activity that you may think should be credited for one of your Awards.  The Young Leader Training Log Book, is also linked, which again needs to be completed in full and handed to the Explorer Scout Team.

Explorer Reply Slips for all activities

Below is a link to an example Explorer Kit List for expeditions.  Depending on the type and length of the expedition the necessary items will vary and Explorers are expected to adapt to these changing conditions.  All Explorers should assemble and pack their own kit.

Below is a link to the Gift Aid Letter and reply slip.  If you are a taxpayer it would be appreciated if you could complete this and return the reply slip to us electronically or via the post, so that we can make a claim against the subscriptions you are making.  This will help in the long term with the future financial situation for Scouting.  Many thanks.
